One trip, more than one destination

A trip that crosses a border is not a harder trip, but the data part needs one decision made in advance: what carries the connection on each side of it.

One plan per country, not one plan for the trip

YuzuSIM currently sells plans for individual destinations. Check the coverage for every leg of your trip; a single-country label does not tell you how the connection is routed.

Your phone can hold several at once

Compatible phones can store more than one eSIM, but the supported combinations depend on the exact model and purchase region. Check the manufacturer’s instructions and carrier-unlock status before buying.

A practical order that avoids surprises:

1. Install the first eSIM at home, before you fly, if its days start on first connection. Follow the activation rule on the plan page.
2. Check your home carrier’s call, SMS and roaming charges before keeping that line active. Switching off data roaming does not make calls or messages free.
3. On the day you cross the border, turn the first eSIM off and the second one on, and switch mobile data to the new one.
4. Keep each eSIM installed until the trip is over. A deleted eSIM may not be reusable.

What not to do

Hong Kong and mainland China are separate coverage areas. Check each plan’s destination list and do not infer app access or connection routing from a network name.

A route that works well

For a Japan and South Korea itinerary, choose a plan for each destination with enough validity for the days spent there. Use the durations actually offered on the country pages and account for border-crossing days.

Check the details once, then forget about it

Three things to confirm before you leave, all of them on the plan page: the network, when the days start and whether the phone’s data roaming switch needs to be on. After that, the rest of the trip is the easy part.

If you are travelling with more than one phone in the group, each phone needs its own eSIM, and one eSIM cannot be shared between two phones. Hotspot sharing is different: where a plan allows it, it is a good way to connect a second device.
