Kyoto eSIM

Kyoto rewards planning: temples open early, buses fill up, and the best routes mix trains, the subway and long walks. A Japan eSIM keeps maps, timetables and translations online from the moment you step off the train.

How much data do I need?

Before your Kyoto trip

No airport in the city

Kansai International and Osaka Itami serve the region, and both are common arrival points for Kyoto. Install before you fly and you skip the airport Wi-Fi and the SIM counters.

Buses and the subway need live maps

The sightseeing routes change by the hour. Keep the bus map online and the timetable one tap away; install and test the eSIM before you leave home.

A base for day trips

Osaka, Nara and Uji are short rides from Kyoto Station. One plan covers them all; the card on this page names the network.

A few things before you fly.

Which airport do I fly into for Kyoto?

Kansai International is the usual international gateway, with Itami for domestic flights. Trains from Kansai International run direct to Kyoto Station, so the plan is working by the time you reach the city.

Do I need an eSIM for a short stop in Kyoto?

Choose the plan by the days you will actually stay and the data you use in a busy day. A short trip with heavy map and photo use can want more data than a longer, quieter one.

Does the plan work in Osaka and Nara too?

Yes. A Japan plan is not tied to one city, and the day trips are covered by the same allowance.
