How to install your eSIM on iPhone

You install your eSIM in your iPhone’s own settings. There is no app to download.

Before you start

• Connect to Wi-Fi or use cellular data. Apple’s guide asks for an available Wi-Fi or cellular network while you add an eSIM.
• Open your order page on another screen, such as a laptop, a tablet or a second phone, so your iPhone can scan the QR code.
• Keep your QR code private. Anyone who has it could install your eSIM.

Scan the QR code in Settings

1. Open Settings and tap Cellular. On some iPhones this is called Mobile Data.
2. Tap Set Up Cellular or Add eSIM, then Use QR Code. You may need to tap Other Options first.
3. Hold your iPhone so the QR code on your order page appears in the frame.
4. Follow the steps on screen. Only enter a confirmation code if your setup guide gives one.

Or start from the Camera app

Apple also lets you open the Camera app and point it at the QR code. When the Cellular Plan Detected notification appears, tap it, then tap Continue and Add Cellular Plan. On iOS 17.4 or later, if the QR code is open on the same iPhone in your default browser or email app, you can tap and hold the code, then tap Add eSIM.

Enter the details by hand

If you cannot scan the code, your order page also shows the SM-DP+ address and activation code. On the scanning screen, choose to enter the details manually (Apple calls this Enter Details Manually), then type both exactly as your order page shows them.

Label the line

Once the eSIM is added, give the new line a label such as Travel, as Apple suggests. The label appears in Phone, Messages and Contacts. To change it later, open Settings > Cellular, tap the line, then Cellular Plan Label.

When you arrive

1. Choose your eSIM for data: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data, then tap your travel line.
2. If your setup guide says to turn on data roaming for the eSIM: Settings > Cellular, tap your travel line, then Cellular Data Options, and turn on Data Roaming.

With iOS 26 or later, your iPhone may show a Turn On Travel eSIM notification when you arrive. You can follow it instead.

If it does not install

Turn Airplane Mode on and off, then restart your iPhone and try again. Apple also suggests opening Settings > Cellular: if the new line is shown there, turn it off and on again. If your iPhone says the code is no longer valid, do not keep retrying. Contact us with your order number and a screenshot of the error, but please do not send your QR code.
