When should I install my eSIM?

Your eSIM validity starts when it first connects to a supported network. Installing the eSIM does not start the countdown. Set it up with a reliable internet connection, then select it for mobile data at your destination.

First, check the activation rule

Open your plan details or private order page. Check the activation rule before you scan your QR code. You can install using Wi-Fi or cellular data, with no app required.

Where to find the rule

Every plan says when its days start. You can see it:

• on the plan page, before you pay;
• on your private order page, next to your plan;
• in the setup guide for your order.

If you cannot find your order page, Find my eSIM emails the private link to you again.

Before you start

• Use Wi-Fi or cellular data.
• Open your QR code on another screen to scan it.
• Install through your phone’s eSIM settings. No app is required.
• Keep the eSIM installed until your trip is finished.

Your phone downloads the eSIM over the internet, so it needs a connection while you install. Apple’s iPhone guide asks for an available Wi-Fi or cellular network, and Samsung asks for Wi-Fi or a mobile data connection. Either one works.

Installing when you arrive

You can also install after you land, using Wi-Fi at the airport or your hotel, or your cellular data. If you only have one phone with you, your setup guide lists the details to enter by hand instead of scanning.
