Use the current airport directory
Hong Kong International Airport’s official directory groups SIM cards and pocket Wi-Fi together. On 11 October 2026 it listed 7-Eleven, RELAY and Travelex, along with 爽WIFI at A02 and Uroaming at A16 in Arrivals Hall A.
That shared listing does not establish that every counter sells a particular SIM card. Ask whether the product is a SIM, an eSIM or a rental Wi-Fi device, and whether collection or an advance booking is required. For a rental, check the return arrangements as well as the data allowance.
We have not verified a complete set of current prices, outlet hours or stock for these locations. Check the individual listing for your arrival time and terminal. The directory is a better starting point than relying on an old guide’s named kiosk, but it is still worth confirming the particular product you want.
Check which side of the terminal the outlet serves
Match the shop’s location to your journey. The public arrivals area and a restricted departures or transfer area are different places. A retailer’s name may appear at several locations, and the opening hours or available products may differ between them.
If you are connecting without entering Hong Kong, do not assume you can use a public arrivals counter. If you are entering the city, check that the chosen outlet is reachable after completing arrival formalities. Save its current map location before departure instead of depending on a working data connection to find it.
Ask for the complete package
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Is this a SIM, eSIM or rental device? | Setup and return requirements differ |
| What is the complete price? | Check the card, allowance, fees and any rental deposit |
| How much usable data is included? | A daily allowance and a total balance work differently |
| When does validity begin? | Purchase, installation and first connection are different possible triggers |
| Does it include a local number or calls? | Data-only products do not provide ordinary telephone service |
| What registration is required? | Complete the selected operator’s process before relying on service |
| Does it cover my other destinations? | Hong Kong coverage alone does not establish mainland or Macao coverage |
If hotspot use matters, ask about that separately. For a rental device, also check battery life, charging and how the group will share it; avoid assuming that one person can leave with it while everyone else stays connected.
Registration is a product check
The Office of the Communications Authority publishes registration guidance and operator links for local prepaid SIM cards. Follow the selected operator’s current instructions and confirm which identity document it accepts.
Do not assume an eSIM is exempt because it has no plastic card. Equally, do not apply the requirements of one local prepaid product to every travel product. Ask about the exact plan and finish any required verification before expecting it to connect.
Buying before the flight
An advance purchase can reduce reliance on an airport outlet’s opening hours. It still needs preparation: check the exact phone model, carrier lock, plan destination list and validity-start instructions. Install the profile over a stable connection only when the product’s instructions permit it.
The YuzuSIM Hong Kong store shows current options. Choose by the data and validity you need, rather than assuming every airport arrival needs the same allowance. Our Hong Kong short-trip data guide helps frame that decision.
Compare a travel data plan with any suitable home-carrier roaming allowance. Roaming is not automatically the most expensive option; the result depends on your own contract, included destinations, data and calling charges.
Mainland China or Macao on the same journey
A Hong Kong-labelled offer may be Hong Kong-only or may include other destinations. The selected plan’s country list settles the question. If you plan to enter mainland China or Macao, verify each stop explicitly and check whether the allowance is shared.
Geographic coverage also does not establish app access on a mainland connection. Review the China connectivity guide and ask about any service you need to rely on.
Keep a late-arrival fallback
Save your hotel address, transfer instructions and private order link offline. If the intended shop is closed or setup takes longer than expected, those details remain available. Follow the plan’s instructions for choosing the data line and roaming setting, and keep your home line’s charges in mind.
Test a small page before leaving the terminal. If mobile data fails, use the YuzuSIM troubleshooting guide and contact support with the exact product and error. A pre-purchase removes the shopping step; it does not guarantee a connection at every location.
Where can I look for a SIM at Hong Kong Airport?
Start with the airport’s current SIM and pocket Wi-Fi directory. Its listing includes retailers and Arrivals Hall A counters, but confirm which product each outlet offers.
Are the counters open all night?
Current hours have not been verified for every listed outlet. Check the particular counter for your arrival time and keep a fallback.
Does eSIM avoid real-name registration?
The format alone does not establish registration requirements. Follow the exact operator and plan’s current instructions.
Will a Hong Kong plan work in mainland China or Macao?
Only if the selected product includes those destinations. Check the coverage list and app-access requirements separately.
